Floor Care
Floors That Look Cared For.

Floors take more wear than any other surface in a business. Daily sweeping and mopping keep them presentable, but traffic lanes dull, carpet holds onto soil, and finish wears through until the whole space looks older than it is. Thoro Clean schedules vetted, insured local pros for carpet extraction, strip and wax, and large-floor scrubbing on a regular schedule, coordinated around your business hours.

Strip and wax, scrub and recoat, or extraction?
Hard floors like vinyl composition tile are protected by layers of floor finish. A full strip and wax removes the old, worn finish down to the floor, then applies fresh coats and buffs them to a shine. It's the biggest reset for a hard floor and usually takes the space out of use until the finish cures. A scrub and recoat is lighter: the top layer is scrubbed clean and a new coat goes on, which brings back the shine without a full strip and stretches the time between strips.
Carpet extraction is different. Hot water and a cleaning solution are worked into the carpet and pulled back out with the soil, which reaches far deeper than vacuuming. For warehouses, gyms and other large spaces, an auto scrubber cleans and dries the floor in one pass, so wide areas get covered quickly. Your local partner recommends the right approach for each floor so you're not paying for more than you need.
How often does a commercial floor need care?
Most businesses do a full strip and wax on hard floors once or twice a year, with scrub and recoat visits in between, often quarterly. Busy retail, schools, medical offices and lobbies may need more frequent attention in traffic lanes. Carpet extraction is often done every three to six months in offices and more often in high-traffic areas. Warehouses and large spaces may be scrubbed weekly, monthly or on whatever schedule matches the work inside. We'll suggest a schedule based on your traffic and floors, and adjust it as you go.

Good to know.
What kinds of floors do you care for?
Carpet, vinyl composition tile and other finished hard floors, and sealed concrete in warehouses and large spaces. Tell us what you have when you request a quote, and we'll confirm what your local partner can do.
Will we have to close?
Work is scheduled outside your business hours, usually overnight or on a weekend. For larger spaces the crew can work in sections so part of the building stays open.
How long before we can walk on the floor?
Freshly waxed floors usually need to dry overnight before light foot traffic, and longer before furniture goes back. Your crew will tell you the timing for your floors.
Do you move furniture?
Yes, where it's safe to do so. Heavy equipment, electronics and anything bolted down usually stays in place, so mention those items ahead of time.
Can you set up a recurring schedule?
Yes. Most businesses put floor care on a recurring schedule so strip, recoat and extraction happen on time.
